Why?
We all enjoy the atmosphere of natural moving water. Think waterfalls, rivers, streams or rolling waves.
Architects and designers bring man made moving water into buildings, parks and gardens, to simulate the effects of nature.
But why do we feel better in those environments?
Scientists know that this is due to negative ions - odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance where there are mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.
On a smaller scale, in our homes, offices or gardens, when used as a feng shui treatment, moving water can:

A consultant will take your floor plan, and overlay a special map, known as a bagua.
Simply put, the bagua has nine sections, each of which represents an aspect of life.

The placement of everything in your space is considered. The idea is that the decoration and obejcts positioned in each space works positively with that aspect of life.
Moving water influences the aspects relating to money, feelings of abundance, well being, career and life path. In fact, on most bagua maps they are named as 'wealth', or 'prosperity' and 'journey' or 'career'.
This makes the placement of your water feature very important!
