We all enjoy the atmosphere of natural moving water. Think waterfalls, rivers, streams or rolling waves.
Architects and designers bring man made moving water into buildings, parks and gardens, to simulate the effects of nature.
But why do we feel better in those environments?
Scientists know that this is due to negative ions - odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance where there are mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.
On a smaller scale, in our homes, offices or gardens, when used as a feng shui treatment, moving water can:
invite fresh energy and life into your space,
stimulate cash flow,
increase creativity and work rate,
increase your chances of finding a new job
attract positivity and abundance.
Indoors or out, a water feature with clean moving water will have the effect of stimulating those negative ions, and encourage positive energy to anyone using the space.
Properly located, it can work wonders.
According to the principles of feng shui, every part of an occupied space influences a particular aspect of life.
A consultant will take your floor plan, and overlay a special map, known as a bagua.
Simply put, the bagua has nine sections, each of which represents an aspect of life.
The placement of everything in your space is considered. The idea is that the decoration and obejcts positioned in each space works positively with that aspect of life.
Moving water influences the aspects relating to money, feelings of abundance, well being, career and life path. In fact, on most bagua maps they are named as 'wealth', or 'prosperity' and 'journey' or 'career'.
This makes the placement of your water feature very important!
How? If your entrance and floor plan are simple, it can be easy to locate the ideal spot for your water feature.
Find your Journey aspect to attract a new job or fresh opportunity.
Stand facing your house. Imagine there are three sections along the front width. Your journey area is in the front center.
Find your Prosperity aspect for money issues or to attract abundance.
Stand facing the house, locate the far left corner to the rear of the property.
